Shanghai : Gaël Monfils écarte Ugo Humbert et rejoint Carlos Alcaraz en huitièmes

Gaël Monfils a battu Ugo Humbert au Masters 1000 de Shanghai et affrontera Carlos Alcaraz en huitièmes.

Le Français Gaël Monfils (46e mondial) a remporté son match contre Ugo Humbert (15e) au troisième tour du Masters 1000 de Shanghai, s’imposant en trois sets, 7-6 (9/7), 2-6, 6-1.

Monfils a réussi à break Humbert lors du premier set grâce à une double faute de son adversaire à 4-4. Malgré trois balles de set, Humbert a réagi en prenant le filet, mais Monfils a finalement remporté la manche après un tie-break tendu. Dans le deuxième set, Humbert a profité des difficultés de Monfils pour égaliser facilement.

En troisième manche, bien que Monfils semblait fatigué, il a réalisé un break décisif à 2-1. Humbert, visiblement gêné par des douleurs à la cheville et au mollet, a sollicité l’aide d’un kiné mais a continué à perdre des jeux, permettant à Monfils de conclure le match.

En huitièmes de finale, Monfils affrontera l’Espagnol Carlos Alcaraz, N°2 mondial. L’autre Français, Alexandre Muller (74e), a été éliminé par Stefanos Tsitsipas (12e) qui a remporté son match 6-3, 7-5. Tsitsipas a montré une performance solide, mais a failli perdre son service en fin de match. Au prochain tour, il affrontera Daniil Medvedev (N°5 mondial).
