Ashleigh Barty concede un set dès le premier tour contre la 77e joueuse mondiale, l’Américaine Bernarda Pera. Malgré tout, elle s’impose 6-4 / 3-6 / 6/2 et se qualifie pour le second tour. La numéro 1 s’est faite une frayeur au début du troisième set, elle a du appeler la Kiné pour une douleur en bas du dos.
