Libre de tout contrat, l’attaquant de 35 ans a notamment été approché par l’Olympique de Marseille. Mais alors que les négociations avec Alexis Sanchez – l’autre piste de Pablo Longoria – ralentissent, le Belge s’éloigne du championnat de France. Selon les informations de Sky Sports Italia, Mertens est suivi par l’AS Roma mais son avenir pourrait s’écrire en Turquie.

Depuis quelques jours déjà, Galatasaray fait le forcing pour tenter de finaliser le recrutement du joueur. « Il y a eu des contacts entre les parties, mais les Giallorossi doivent faire monter les enchères pour signer le joueur. Galatasaray espère conclure l’affaire pour un montant d’environ 5 millions d’euros par saison », détaille le média.
