Leader de l’équipe, Astana, le Colombien sera bien présent sur les routes italiennes du 3 au 25 octobre comme il l’a annoncé. Surnommé « Superman » par les médias colombiens, il disputera donc son 3e Giro en carrière avec un coéquipier de choc, en la personne de Jakob Fuglsang.
